United by Birmingham 2022
We are delighted to be named one of the founding Community Partners with Birmingham 2022 who launched their fabulous ‘United by Birmingham 2022’ programme in Birmingham on 4 March.
EmployabilityUK was a frontrunner in immediately recognising the opportunity and ambitions that Birmingham 2022 brings to the community.
We were out of the starting blocks instantly as we realised our programme model is so well aligned to the aims of the Games and its community strategy. In fact, the choice of programme name (Inspiring Young Birmingham) was specifically designed to provide synergy in contributing to the vision of the 2022 Games.
Our offer is already aimed at many of the 2022 community projects:
- to improve skills
- offer training
- provide volunteering resource
- deliver social value or activities for young people.
Over the next three years, leading up to July 2022, EmployabilityUK will find the seed of potential in more than 1500 young people and make it grow. This will prepare them, not only for their future as adults but also to be first-class Ambassadors for Birmingham when we welcome the world to our amazing city. We estimate that in the summer of 2022, Birmingham will need around one million volunteering hours over 11 days. We believe that at least 10% should be young people between the ages of 18 and 24, specially trained by EmployabilityUK.
