Introducing ‘Journey to Success’

EmployabilityUK awarded £10,000 grant from The National Express Foundation to inspire young people everywhere

At EmployabilityUK, we are thrilled to have been chosen for a funding award of £10,000 by The National Express Foundation. The Foundation is a charity that helps disadvantaged young people in a variety of different ways, reaching those most in need of support. Following two previously successful projects, National Express has once again, pledged a grant to EmployabilityUK to extend our innovative work with young people.

EmployabilityUK will use a grant of £10,000 to widen participation in their ‘Journey to Success’ programme which is part of their innovative Inspiring Young Birmingham’ (IYB) programme. The extended provision will allow people that may not have otherwise had the chance to prepare themselves for volunteer or paid job roles at the upcoming Commonwealth Games in the city. The specific aim of the Journey to Success programme is to deliver to young people from selected groups. The sessions will be delivered by professional volunteers and young employees that are on, or have been through the Kickstart programme. Each young person will attend at least one face to face workshop and one virtual workshop.

Diane Vernon, Founder and CEO at EmployabilityUK said:
“We are absolutely delighted that the National Express Foundation has awarded us this grant. It means that we are able to reach even more young people across the West Midlands as part of our ‘Inspiring Young Birmingham’ initiative.

Thanks to National Express and other partners, our programmes have already seen more than 1,200 young people from across the region become ‘Games Ready’: to apply for voluntary roles or jobs created because the Commonwealth Games is coming to our wonderful city. Now, this funding will directly enable us to extend our programme to even more young people including those furthest from the labour market.

We are immensely grateful and will ensure that the opportunity to experience this transformational programme is extended to as many young people as possible.”
